Here we are, almost in March, and after standard (but very drawn-out!) new-year-new-me pondering, I’ve finally decided that The Monday Oops - which I first created amidst the global pandemic in 2020 - deserved a makeover.
Actually, more like a complete overhaul.
One of the biggest snags with this newsletter is that it’s always been mysteriously vague. ‘Personal musings on life as a 30-something’ doesn’t really give a potential subscriber much to go on, does it?
This lack of focus has also made it incredibly tricky for me as a writer, as the remit has been far too broad. My archives don’t lie; I’ve written about everything from the birthday blues and rejection to insomnia and friendships.
It turns out, when you don’t have something specific to talk about to help steer your thoughts and ideas, you can end up saying nothing at all. Hence my recent hiatus.
So, it got me thinking; how could I make my content more clear-cut, transforming it into an irresistible read to boot?!
The clue was always in the title, but I had overlooked it.
My newsletter is called The Monday Oops because (a) I decided to publish each issue on a Monday and (b) I really like the quote “Better an oops, than a what if” - something that hangs in a copper frame on the wall behind my sofa.
But I’ve never really followed through on the ‘oops’ part.
Until now.
The Monday Oops is finally going to live up to its name.
Those unexpected moments, the bad decisions, the mistakes, the imperfect situations I would do again differently if I could - I’m going to delve into these in each fortnightly edition, all from my honest perspective with a sprinkling of personal stories.
I hope this new angle is more enticing to readers old and new, and I can’t wait to share snippets from my everyday life again.
My ‘mixtape’ will also be making a comeback, featuring a handpicked selection of my favourite quotes, books, podcasts, articles - basically anything that I enjoy or find inspiring.
